LOCATION
Plot Overview:
"Cursed Sanctuary" is a horror film that follows a group of high school students who decide to shoot a low-budget horror film for a school project. However, they unknowingly choose a filming location that is haunted by a vengeful spirit. As they delve deeper into the production, the line between reality and the supernatural blurs, leading to a terrifying struggle for survival.
Filming Location: Old Penrose Mansion
Description:
The Old Penrose Mansion, once an opulent estate, now stands dilapidated and abandoned, set amidst a desolate landscape surrounding the small town of Ravenwood. The mansion's architectural grandeur, coupled with its eerie ambiance, make it the ideal setting for a student horror film.
Exterior:
The mansion exterior appears as if it was plucked directly from a gothic horror novel. Its weathered facade showcases crumbling stonework, overgrown ivy, and boarded-up windows that conceal mysterious secrets within. Surrounding the mansion are neglected gardens, where once beautiful roses now grow thorny and twisted. Towering trees provide an eerie backdrop, casting long, menacing shadows.
Interior:
The dilapidated interiors of Penrose Mansion are perfect for recreating creepy, tension-filled scenes. The mansion's entryway encompasses a grand staircase, complete with a chandelier that swings ominously overhead. The dusty parlor exudes an air of decay, with faded wallpaper peeling off the walls and antique furniture draped in white sheets.
The dark, winding corridors of the mansion offer plenty of opportunities for suspenseful encounters. Hidden rooms, secret passageways, and crumbling walls add an element of surprise. A dank basement, featuring flickering lights and rusty chains, promises spine-chilling moments.
Spooky Features:
1. Haunted Chapel: Adjacent to the mansion stands a small chapel, abandoned and suffused with an otherworldly atmosphere. Cobwebs drape the empty pews, while an eerie energy emanates from a towering, stained-glass window depicting an ominous figure.
2. Overgrown Maze: In the mansion's overgrown backyard lies a forsaken labyrinth, its hedges twisted and tangled. Getting lost within its winding paths amplifies a sense of claustrophobia and dread.
3. Forgotten Cemetery: Located at the edge of the property, an ancient cemetery extends into the adjacent forest. Crumbling tombstones, broken fences, and gnarled trees surround the graves, showcasing the spirits' eternal unrest.
Film Crew Challenges:
1. Limited lighting: The faded electricity within the mansion poses numerous challenges in capturing suitable lighting for the film, forcing the crew to rely on natural light or creative alternatives.
2. Safety hazards: The decaying structure introduces potential dangers, such as unstable floors, loose fixtures, and hidden traps. The crew must navigate these hazards while ensuring their safety.
3. Paranormal encounters: As the story unfolds, paranormal activities intensify, testing the crew's resolve. Unexplained whispers, ghostly apparitions, and unsettling occurrences become part of their experience, heightening their fear and dedication to delivering a realistic horror film.
Despite the difficulties, the atmospheric Old Penrose Mansion provides the perfect backdrop for a high school student's horror film, immersing both the characters and the audience in an unsettling and thrilling cinematic experience.

HEALTH AND SAFETY To ensure the safety of everyone involved in the production of our horror film, strict safety measures will be implemented. Here are a few important guidelines: 1. Safety Team: It is essential to have a responsible individual or team designated as the "safety team." For our film, my parents have kindly volunteered to act as the safety team. They will provide extreme supervision throughout the filming process, maintaining access to a phone capable of dialing emergency services (911) and a well-equipped first aid kit. 2. Climbing Scene: During the scene involving climbing, we will be using a ladder as a prop. To prevent accidents or falls, a member of the safety team will secure the ladder to ensure stability and minimize risks. We remind all cast and crew members to exercise caution and proper ladder safety techniques. 3. Stabbing Scene: The scene where the spy is stabbed will utilize a fake knife that has been further dulled to minimize any potential harm. However, safety remains paramount. To address any unforeseen circumstances, a first aid kit will be readily available on set. Additionally, a member of the safety team will closely monitor the scene, ready to respond promptly if any issues arise. It is crucial that everyone involved adheres to these safety guidelines, follows instructions provided by the safety team, and communicates any concerns promptly. By prioritizing safety, we can create an exciting and thrilling horror film while ensuring the well-being of everyone on set.
